Nothing feels more like the Christmas season than the smell of pizzelle cookies, a house that is way too hot, and the sound of my Nana singing along to the ‘hot chocolate’ song from the best Christmas movie, The Polar Express.
I love Christmas movies and have many favorites, but nothing will ever truly top The Polar Express because of the memories I have tied to it. Every December, my Nana and I would have a ‘Polar Express sleepover’ where we would have dinner together, make some hot chocolate and cookies, and snuggle up together to watch our favorite movie. It is one of my fondest childhood memories.
This movie will hit even harder this Christmas after recently losing my Nana and having to watch the movie on my own. However, I cannot wait to sit down and watch it and feel surrounded by the love and memories that it will bring to me.
The Polar Express is so comforting. The background music and storyline are both so magical and bring an air of Christmas spirit that fills the room every time you watch it. While some may argue that the graphics are a bit unsettling due to the animation’s lifeless eyes, I find it comforting because of the experiences I have with the movie. The story line of believing in Christmas magic is classic and brings me back to when I was a kid.
I know when I watch the movie this season I will feel the Christmas spirit I am used to, but along with it will come the love and beautiful memories of my Nana.
