Oliver Ames offers a multitude of different extracurriculars, with a list a mile long of clubs that students can participate in. One of these clubs is the Biology Club, run by Ms. Annunziato and led by Co-Presidents Isabelle Bloomfield, Leah Marie Evora, and Travor Nguyen.
The Bio Club meets at least once a month and is looking to have more meetings. They focus on a presentation and follow it up with a fun activity.
“I loved one of our last meetings last year when we made dirt cups. It was like a journey into the past where I was able to do an activity that I loved so much as a kid and being able to relive it with my closest friends.” said Co-President Evora
In Evora’s first year as president, she has gained and strengthened skills, such as public speaking. She described Bio Club as an environment filled with support that is an easy and fun addition to a typical teen’s busy schedule.
“I love that Bio Club is very low key but still informative. As a president, I still learn new things when setting up the presentations and I love being able to share new knowledge about a subject I am so passionate about with other people.”
The leaders of Bio Club are super passionate about this club, ensuring the environment is fun and engaging. While the club itself is very low-key, the interest in it is not.
“My favorite part of this club is seeing everyone learn about one of my favorite subjects. Everything we do is super hands-on and engaging and really makes sure that the concept is like, understood. I just love it.” said Co-President Bloomfield
While most people may steer away from Bio Club as biology is an educational subject, the leaders say that this club is very much not like a class. The study of biology is balanced with a great time with friends here.
“The most valuable lesson that Bio Club has taught me is to enjoy learning and to always try to have fun while doing it. We all try to do this at all of our meetings, which makes it way more fun.” said Co-President Nguyen
Nguyen has even more incentive for you to attend the meeting.
“I think everyone should join Bio Club, we meet once a month, it’s a lot of fun, and there’s always food!”
