Both boys and girls basketball are moving on to the elite 8 after dramatic finishes in their games.
Girls basketball hosted North Attleboro on Monday night. OA was facing a tough deficit in the first quarter, trailing 13-2 at one point. They would battle back all game with Avery Gamble leading the Tigers with 30 points. OA found themselves down 1 with just seconds remaining in the 4th quarter. With their season on the line, Brie Antebi made a game winning layup for a final score of 48-47.
The boys faced off against Archbishop Williams Tuesday night. Both teams went back and forth and ended the first quarter tied at 14. Archbishop Williams started to take control of the game in the second quarter. OA did not give up however, and the game came down to the wire. Justin Grimaldi hit a game tying 3 with 5 seconds left in the 4th quarter and sent the game into overtime. OA was able to hang on and win, 70-66. Grimaldi led the team with 27 points and Luke Brodsky’s 4 three pointers in this game contributed to his 18 points. Zaire Maddox ended the game with 11 points including a few clutch free throws at the end of the game.
