McDonald’s signature Shamrock Shake features creamy vanilla soft serve blended with a signature bright green, mint-flavored syrup and topped with whipped cream. This sweet treat is only available near St. Patrick’s day and the shake became open to the public this year on February 17th for the price of $4, for a small, and over $5 for larger sizes.
Is it really worth it?
Upon first look, the Shamrock Shake definitely exceeded my expectations. It features bright green swirled with a muted white. This visual was full of St. Patrick’s day spirit and worth the long wait to try this shake. The whipped cream glistened on the top of the shake and added a perfect extra touch of sweetness.
If you are not a fan of sweetness, then this shake might not be for you because it contains between 63g to 113g depending on the size, making it an incredibly sweet dessert. The mint flavoring was not as realistic tasting as I would have liked, but many are into the strong artificial mint flavor! The Shamrock Shake definitely has a cult-like following for its iconic mint taste.
Not only does the Shamrock Shake have a unique taste but it also has an enticing scent. The fresh and sweet mint smell is very apparent upon purchasing the shake and is something that many customers admire. McDonald’s mint flavored syrup gives an iconic taste, look, and scent, ultimately making the shake what it is.
Variations have oreos incorporated to give it an extra crunch but the typical Shamrock Shake has a smooth and well blended texture. The shake was on the pricier side of single items on the McDonald’s menu, but its rare timing and iconic blend makes it worth the extra price.
