Dr. Christine Pruitt, current assistant superintendent, has been chosen to take over for Superintendent Dr. Lisha Cabral, who announced her retirement earlier this school year.
Pruitt, who served as assistant for nine years, will take over on July 1 after being selected by the Easton School Committee last month.
Even with her experience and qualifications, the process for her selection was quite lengthy and complicated. After going through search committees, interviews, hours with the school committee, and presentations, Dr. Pruitt was hired.
“Easton deserves it. And Easton deserves to have the best person for the position. I have very high expectations for myself and how to lead Easton, and I’m really looking forward to it”
With her love of Easton, it’s easy to understand why she would want to keep most things the way they are. Following in Dr. Cabral’s footsteps, she wants to add her own tweaks to the already well-run system.
“I do know that some of the things that need to be in place are a stronger communication system and visible leadership. I’m really excited just to be at everything that I could be at.”
Dr. Pruitt is very passionate about her love for Easton. After being involved in the district for years and years, she has gotten to know the kids who learn there. She wants to keep all the students in the district in the district to have enrollment as high as possible.
“I know in many districts, families will send kids to private schools or to other school choices, and my goal is to make sure that they stay here in Easton. And I think it starts with the quality of the high school.”
Keeping students in the district starts with the school experience, which ultimately comes down to the teachers. After her years of assistant – superintendency, she has so much appreciation for all of the staff in the school district and cannot wait to work closer with them.
“They inspire me every single day, working and then seeing all of you and how you all thrive in these environments where relationships are strong with teachers and educators… has really been fun and incredible.”
Dr. Pruitt is absolutely thrilled to take over the huge role of Superintendent here at Easton Public Schools. Expect to see her everywhere as she wants to be as involved as possible in the schools and events.
“I just wanna say that I am so excited to be in this role, and students’ voices are extremely important to me. I think it’s gonna be really critical in shaping the superintendency in the whole district because here at OA, you all have been through the district. So, you can share your experiences and having that perspective is going to be really important.”
