Each week, we ask the captains of one of OAs sports teams to recommend a teammate of the week, a player who has consistently contributed to the team but doesn’t always get the glory.
This week’s focus falls on the girls tennis team. When asked who she believed was deserving of the honor of teammate of the week this week, captain Ali Querzoli chose her teammate Anna Sierra.
“I would like to nominate Junior Anna Sierra as teammate of the week. Anna is one of those teammates who no matter what is willing to do everything without anyone having to ask. She is the first to grab or put away the balls, she is always willing to get the water jug (which is a long way from the courts), she is always cheering on her teammates, even in the moments where tensions are high Anna is the calming force, and she has the most contagious smile,” Querzoli elated. “As our coaches have said, Anna has the biggest heart on the team, both on and off the court. Anna’s ability to support her teammates and play an incredible game is what makes her such an asset to the team, and we are so lucky to have her!”
While Anna has had a great impact off the court in boosting team morale and promoting a good environment, she has also been putting in the work on the court.
“Anna has recently been playing varsity at second doubles with her partner Junior Ava Clark. At our away match versus Mansfield it was Anna’s first doubles match, she had some incredible shots and volleys that won them the sets. The girls couldn’t stop raving about Anna’s kindness and love for tennis” Querzoli said.
