The Celtics have had a very up and down season so far because they have a 12-9 record overall to start off the season and it has been a roller coaster so far with how much young talent that they have combined with some older veterans as they could be playing a lot better because they are struggling right now.
They have had a lot of very promising moments and games because even some games they had lost they only lost by a couple points so it was a very close matchup where they could have easily won still. The Celtics lost their first 3 games of the season to the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons and they won their last two games to the New Orleans Pelicans and Cleveland Cavaliers. 4 of their first losses came within 10 points or less so it was easily all winnable games. There was one game against the Houston Rockets as they lost by 27 points. The Jazz beat the Celtics 105-103 and then the Celtics beat the Washington Wizards 136-107. The Magic beat the Celtics 123-110 in one of the NBA Cup tournament games. The Celtics won in a thriller against the Orlando Magic 111-107. In the very next game they played the Philadelphia 76ers again and they lost in a close thriller of a game as it was 102-100. They put the Memphis Grizzlies on clamps the whole next game as they won 131-95 which was a 36 point win. The Celtics just won against the Los Angeles Clippers last night 121-118 which was a good win. The Celtics beat the Nets 113-99 and then lost to the Nets the next game 113-105. The Celtics then proceeded to go on a two game winning streak against the Magic and Pistons where they beat the Magic 138-129 and Pistons 117-114. They lost to the Timberwolves a couple nights later 119-115 as it was a great game. The last two games the Celtics are on a two game winning streak against the Cavaliers and Knicks. The Cavaliers game they won 117-115 and to the Knicks it was 123-117. The Celtics have had a solid season so far as they have had a lot of strong and great moments but there are also some moments that you don’t want to happen to your team. overall a satisfying start as they now are the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference.
Some players that have stood out so far is of course Jaylen Brown because he is the superstar for this team now that Tatum is out foremost of the season and he has stepped into a much bigger role for the whole season. Jaylen Brown has been rising up to expectations as he has put his heart and soul into every game and taking over different stretches.
Jaylen Brown has definitely improved his shooting and playmaking and security of the ball because he is not turning the ball over really anymore. His stats this season are 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Jaylen Brown has been the leading player for our team as he has been wonderful for the Celtics. Jaylen Brown has become a lot more vocal and he has grown with his leadership throughout the summer and it is transitioning into the beginning of the season. Jaylen Brown has always made some clutch moments and shots and they’ll need him to lock in for the rest of the season if the Celtics want to win a lot of games this year.
Derrick White is another huge player for us this season because he always hits the most clutch and timely shots that we need to win games. His stats this season are 17 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists a game which are all solid numbers. Derrick White always has a pocket full of threes every game as he is also a menace on the defensive side of the game. Derrick White is one of the best shot blockers for a guard and he can put up 30 points on any given night.
Then lastly, Payton Pritchard who is struggling early this season, but he will definitely find his flow as the season progresses. He still hits some crazy 3 pointers. His stats this season are 15 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Payton Pritchard has been one of the best rebounders for his height this season as he always is now that he is getting a lot of minutes as the starting point guard.
The Celtics made some big changes this offseason because the Celtics traded away Jrue Holiday, Luke Kornet, Kristzaps Porzingis and we let Al Horford go. They are all doing great this season as we lost all of our big mean from last season so now new players have to step up for them in your frontcourt position. They have Luka Garza, Anfernee Simons, Josh Minott, Chris Boucher, Hugo Gonzalez, Ron Harper Jr and Amari Williams for all of the new players they either traded for or drafted. Tatum has still been a great leader for this team on the sideline because he is still very vocal and shows up to every game and he wants to be there for all of the players for emotional support. Tatum is still basically traveling with the team wherever they go.
The leading player for every stat this season is Jaylen Brown for points with 29.0. Neemeias Queta has 8.4 rebounds a game, Derrick White with 5.1 assists, Derrick White with 1.6 steals, Quetta with 1.3 blocks. Quetta has been playing really well for us as he is rebounding the ball a lot and he gets a lot of blocks per game. Josh Minott has been a great quality starter for the past 3 games as he has had over 10 points in every game so far. White overtakes Minott for averaging the most steals on our team.
Overall, the Celtics have not been playing bad and they have a lot to look forward to this season. It is going to be a long season because the Celtics put themselves in position to win but just don’t capitalize on defensive plays. They could easily have a few more wins but the shooting performances have not helped their case. The Celtics have had a lot of interesting moments as they have won by a lot in some games and then they also lose by a lot in a couple games.
