Students are changing their spending habits this year. Whether it’s trying to conserve money or spending on something they find important, times are changing. Many students are spending less through shopping second hand or generally trying to budget more. While others find themselves spending more on necessities and luxuries.
With the new year comes new things that are needed. Many students at OA find themselves having much more events and necessities that require spending money. Sadie Gilson, a senior at OA, says that her increase in spending this year is due to the amount of college registration expenses.
“I am definitely spending more money this year. It is my senior year and there are a lot of events and college expenses, such as tours and registration, that I’m spending more on,” Gilson said.
While some students are spending more this year, many students often find themselves wanting to maintain more of a budget. Isabella Raleigh, a junior at Oliver Ames, says her spending has decreased this year.
“My spending has decreased this year because I feel like I am focusing more on budgeting and saving money for upcoming events,” she said.
