From Needoh ice cubes to Five Below dumplings, fidget toys are the newest trend exploding all over TikTok, interesting thousands of middle and high school students.
Whether it’s math class or history class, you can often find a student in every class with some sort of fidget throughout Oliver Ames High School.
“They’re really satisfying and fun to play with,” Sadie Gilson exclaimed. “My favorite would definitely have to be the Needoh Ice Cubes, the dumplings seem a little overrated.”
Many students have many different reasons for wanting a fidget, whether it’s for mental health reasons or just for fun. Teachers also tend to be in favor of this trend as it often helps students focus better on their work.
“I think it depends on the student, if it’s a fidget they can mindlessly play with while paying attention to the lesson, I think they are helpful” Mrs. Zisblatt states. “If they’re like using putty or something then I think it’s distracting but I think the silent ones are good.”
Along with improving students’ focus, fidget toys have become popular among students because of their entertaining designs and textures.
“They’re fun to play with and I love my Needoh Ice Cube, my friend gave it to me and it’s really awesome. I use it in almost every single class” Katherine Donahue exclaimed.
