Back Bay Bagel Company is located on Belmont in Brockton, in the midst of the Belmont Plaza, squished in between Dunkin Donuts and Brach’s Grill. They opened up in 1995 and have been the main source of bagels for Easton and Brockton residents for over 20 years!
As far as ambience, it’s your typical cafe. It houses two sides of small seating areas with a coffee bar dividing them. There is a long entrance with a small wrap around railing for their out the door lines anywhere between 8 and 10 AM. When you get up to order, all bagels are behind the counter giving you an easy visual to see what flavors are left. You will also see a clear bakery display of packaged cookies, muffins and scones. The staff was kind but efficient and got each bagel toasted and ready in under 5 minutes. They call out each name for the order or even bring it to your table if it’s less busy. It’s typically run by college age or stonehill students, which creates an atmosphere where they work together well.
The menu consists of bagels and sandwiches with a variety of flavors and spreads. From classic options like plain, sesame, and everything bagels to more unique flavors like cinnamon sugar and french toast bagels, there is something for everyone. Customers can choose from a range of cream cheeses, including both sweet and savory options. The bagels themselves are soft on the inside with a slight crisp on the outside, making them high quality and the closest thing to a New York style bagel within Easton and Brockton.
The cinnamon sugar bagel is easily a standout on the menu and earns a 10/10. It is often the first bagel to be sold out daily. It has a slight crisp on the outside and a soft, fluffy inside that makes each bite satisfying. The cinnamon sugar coating adds just the right amount of sweetness without being overpowering, creating a balanced, delicious, flavor. Whether eaten on its own or paired with a cream cheese spread, it’s a simple but satisfying option that’s hard to beat and definitely worth coming back for. If you are a cream cheese lover, I’d highly recommend it. They put on just the right amount, that way you get enough with each bite.
Similar to their bagels, their breakfast sandwiches are up to par. The egg and cheese are melty and the bacon adds just the right amount of texture to the bite. In comparison to a chain like Dunkin, it takes the cake. Their bagel recipe is unmatched and the freshness is what makes it the better option.
Overall, Back Bay Bagel Company stands out as a welcoming and high quality bagel and breakfast place. It offers a comfortable environment, efficient service, and quality food that keeps people coming back.
