When it comes to watching movies, there’s two main options for how you want to go about seeing it. You can either go out to the theater and see the movie on the big screen, or you can stay at home, and watch it from the comfort of your own house. In this article I will debate the pros and cons of both options and determine which one I personally believe is the better choice for indulging in a movie.
First, I’m going to talk about going to the theater. Physically going to a movie theater for a showtime provides a great all around experience. The aspects of getting candy, watching trailers, and just actually sitting in the theater all come together to increase the enjoyability of going to the theater, before the movie even starts. Then when it comes to the movie itself, being wrapped in the immersive feeling that accompanies the silver screen is top tier. The movie seems to surround the viewer as they sit in the theater. There’s also the social aspect of the theater, as many people make it a friend group event to travel together and see a new movie as a group.
Next up I’ll discuss staying at home and viewing a movie. There aren’t many things that people like more than being comfortable. And no place makes people feel more comfortable than sitting on their own couch or in their own bed. Staying at home also provides a larger variety of things that a person can view due to the various streaming services available that house all different types of franchises and genres. Along with this is the fact that it is easier to understand and be undistracted as there is no one else around to potentially take the attention away from the screen.
When it really comes down to it, both options are very enjoyable, but both have different positives and negatives. Although staying at home has an increased comfort factor and a wider array of things to choose from, I have to give it to the theater viewing experience. The whole experience that going to the theater provides is just too good for me to take staying at home over it.
