Kayla Isleib is a junior at Oliver Ames, and has lived in Easton her whole life. Going into her junior year, she is prioritizing making a difference and changing for the better.
Kayla is a caring and warm hearted person who always puts others before herself. She has always felt like the person who people can lean on whenever they need someone to talk to. Not only does that go to her friends and family, but she also shows the action and leadership she needs to take as the Vice President for the Class of ‘27.
“One thing I value a lot is my friends and family, I think that’s one of the things I value a lot. Being able to be a place for them where they can confide in and talk to. I enjoy lifting them up when they’re upset because it’s always hard for me to see anyone to ever be upset.”
Kayla has always had an athletic factor to her. She is able to work well with others, and has great sportsmanship. She has always played two sports for her whole life but for college she wants to pursue her lacrosse career.
“I’ve been playing hockey since I could stand, I remember my dad building a rink in our backyard, and you know ever since my dad taught me I loved it. For lacrosse I’ve played since kindergarten, both my siblings grew up playing it so I did as well. I love both of the sports equally, they’re very different to me.”
As a junior there is always a lot of pressure, especially being in AP classes. Not only is it hard academically but it is also hard socially. Kayla is an open person who strives to give chances to people and has a good work ethic.
“Freshman year was definitely a learning curve for me, I felt like I was always under pressure and trying to be ‘popular’. My Sophomore year really showed who I wanted to surround myself with and found myself. It became less of a popularity chase for me. It didn’t really matter to me because at the end of the day no matter where you are in high school it’s not going to be valuable in life”.
