Colleen O’Connell is a junior at Oliver Ames who is very devoted to theater, singing, dance, and acting.
She not only is avid in her extracurricular activities, but also in her academic career. Colleen enjoys the acting aspect of theater the most.
“What I enjoy most about theater is definitely acting. I feel like I’m able to express myself in a very creative way through the characters’ personnel.”
Colleen is active in many different theater productions, including Oliver Ames Musical and Broadway Night, and Capachoinee’s School of Performing Arts. When asked what she is working on currently, Colleen excitedly jumped on the question.
“I’m currently working on ‘Addams Family’. Since the cast list is not yet out, I would love to get the role of Wednesday because she is a lead and I feel her vocal range best reflects me.”
Colleen has been expanding her vocal range and acting abilities throughout training and practice. She has taken a major interest in her current play, making sure to assess all possible roles. She has an immense determination, aiming for lead roles in her current play and in future productions. Colleen paused before explaining how she keeps her extracurriculars and academic life balanced.
“I keep a planner that I use for everything. I’ll have CSPA (Capachoinee’s School of Performing Arts) this day, then a club this day, or homework the next. I would say that time management is one of my greatest strengths.”
