We are approaching the end of the high school spring sports season, and with just a few regular season games to go the big question is, who is in and who is out of playoff contention?
High school sports are unlike your typical professional sports league in terms of qualifying for the playoffs. Teams that are ranked in the top 32 in the MIAA power rankings make the playoffs. Teams who are 33 or below in the power rankings with a .500 or better record will earn a play-in game.
Girls tennis has had a great season. At 8-3 and ranked 16th in the power rankings, they’ll cruise in the postseason.
Baseball is 6-8 and ranked 33rd in the power rankings. They’ll look to make a push for the playoffs.
Softball is 5-9 and ranked 32nd. They’ll try to hold that spot and make it to the playoffs.
Girls lacrosse is 7-7 on the season and sits 28th in the power rankings. They have a good shot at making the postseason.
Boys lacrosse is 3-10 on the season. They’ll look to have a strong end to the season and possibly sneak into the playoffs.
Boys tennis has had a tough season. They have a 4-9 record but will look to finish the season strong.
