Jessie Keane is a hardworking, determined soccer captain and senior who puts her all into the things that she is passionate about.
Jessie has put her best foot forward to the girls soccer team for 4 years now. This year, she was rewarded with being one of the team captains for her senior year. Being involved within soccer for the 4th year at Oliver Ames is something that Jessie is deeply passionate about.
“Its really cool and it’s really nice, but challenging as we have to get comfortable with the new coach and her plays. I’m honored to be captain because I had my captain my freshman year that I looked up to so now I can be that captain that freshmen can look up to.”
Jessie is a very independent person who wishes to be the one she can rely on. She is a very vocal person who can stand up for what’s right and for others. Jessie hopes to be a leader her senior year and helps kids be confident within themselves on and off the field.
“It means to be free. Like being able to provide for yourself. I feel like I am a very independent person. I do a lot of stuff for myself like I don’t really want to rely on others to do stuff for me.
Jessie’s whole life revolves around her passion. Even when she is out of school and off the field, she is still dedicating her life to it. Jessie is very particular about how she plays and how she can be better but sometimes mental health can be a struggle.
“Usually, I just ignore my phone or just go to bed. I got to practice, zone in on that, then go home, do my homework and then go to bed. When I’m not in school I usually play soccer, regenerate after games/practice and I watch game tape. I watch a lot of game tape, honestly probably too much.”
One thing Jessie is very good at is to stick around when times get hard and she always sees the light at the end of the tunnel. When times get hard, she doesn’t stop, she works through it to see the times she succeeded.
“In the games I work well under pressure, not in school though. In games I just lock in and I don’t remember what I do. I would say it’s from the pressure of being captain, like you kinda always have to be at 100%. One time we as a team succeeded was probably freshman year when we made it to the state championship. I’m really proud to be varsity captain and I’m just happy that the whole team saw something in me and picked me to be captain.”
